How Our Story Started

Anneliese Staff, CPDT-KA, has been training dogs professionally since 2004. Her career includes a wide range of experience, from training shelter animals, to training trick and stunt dogs, therapy dogs and service dogs, and family pets.

Fear Free

Anneliese is a Fear Free Certified® professional, who uses animal training skills to reduce stress and improve handling outcomes. She is Fear Free Shelters® certified, using stress-reducing strategies to help shelter animals thrive before and after adoption.

Certified Professional Dog Trainer

Anneliese demonstrates her commitment to continuing education by maintaining certification of knowledge-assessed certified professional dog trainer (CPDT-KA) through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT).

AKC Family Dog Program Evaluator

Anneliese is an evaluator for the AKC Family Dog Program, which includes

AKC FIT Dog Instructor & FIT Dog Club

Anneliese has completed additional training to become an AKC FIT Dog class instructor. She teaches 3 levels of classes to help healthy dogs exercise their body and brain, improving their coordination, balance and strength. She also hosts AKC FIT Dog Club fitness walks and seasonal virtual 5K walks.

4-H Youth Development

Anneliese participates in Wisconsin 4-H as a Dog Project board member and a 4-H Certified Leader. She develops educational opportunities for Dog Project Leaders and youth members statewide.

What training services do you offer?

Dogs R Plus offers in-person small-group classes located at Cameron Veterinary Clinic in Cameron, WI. Dogs R Plus also offers individual and group virtual classes.

Dogs R Plus is open Monday - Friday 9 am to 2 pm, and 4 pm to 8:30 pm

Accessibility

Is your facility accessible?

Dogs R Plus classes located at Cameron Veterinary Clinic, which provides wheelchair-accessible parking, automatic door openers, and wheelchair-accessible restrooms.

What abilities are required for dog training?

Many people with disabilities can be successful in dog training classes! Handlers must be able to see their dog and the instructor, be able to hear verbal instructions, be able follow written directions, and be able to maintain physical control of their dog (i.e., strength and balance). The ability to manipulate small objects (i.e., treats) with at least one hand is preferred, but there are adaptive devices to assist. Dog training requires cognitive abilities and emotional regulation skills.

Please note that Precision Heeling class is less-accessible than our other classes. If you have mobility limitations, please contact your instructor before enrolling.

Small-Group Classes

What should I bring to class?

When you register for a class, you'll receive a complete list of what to bring to class. For most classes, you'll need a harness, leash, 2 cups of kibble or small treats, 1 cup of tiny pieces of cheese or hot dog, a water dish, and a familiar blanket or bed.

Can my kids come to class?

Children over 5 years of age are welcome in most classes. Children must be accompanied by an adult who also participates in the class and maintains control of their dog at all times. Children must not approach other dogs in class unless asked to do so by the instructor. For complete information, refer to your training contract

Virtual Classes

How do I join my virtual class?

You will receive a link via email to join your class. Virtual classes are hosted on Zoom.

What kind of device do I need for virtual classes?

It's best if you can step back from your screen so your instructor can see you and your dog interacting. If you are using a smartphone, consider using a tripod to hold your phone. Please do not use a background blur - your instructor won't be able to see your dog

What if my internet connection is slow?

If your internet connection is slow, we recommend you turn off your camera during your virtual class. Your instructor may ask you to record video and upload it to YouTube later.

How do I share video with my instructor?

The best way to share large video files is via YouTube. Log into Youtube, create/upload a video. When you publish the video, you may change the visibility to "Unlisted" and share the URL with your instructor. This keeps your video private
